Revision history

I recommend maintaining a list of revisions.

Example:

RevisionFinalizedAuthorDescription
0.1Lars UglebergExample.

I don’t use any scientifically engineered numbering scheme, but usually start with 0.1 and land on 1.0 when I deliver a finished document and have obtained approval.

I leave the Finalized cell empty when I’m still working on the listed revision. I fill in the date when a revision has been approved and published.

Name the author(s) of the listed revision. Some organizations prefer to list the owner of the document rather than the author.

For minor updated I may choose to provide detailed list of changes to help reviewers do their reviews more quickly. For major revisions I usually summarize the purpose and state of the finalized and published revision.
